You feel it too, don’t you?

Well it’s pretty hard to ignore… this decidedly negative tilt the world has right now. Even with near-daily random acts of mass violence, the world is far less brutal today than it has been historically. What is out of the ordinary, however, is the HUGE swath of people I know going through personal trials or hardships, be them self-inflicted or outside their control. Myself included. At this point it seems like more are struggling than aren’t, in all walks of life, sub-cultures, religions and income brackets. Something dark is in the air, and it’s feeding back to us in a devastating loop.

The more negative thoughts and emotions we encounter, the more we amplify them. As a group we need to consider this, do our best to calm ourselves, clear our minds and concentrate on positive things. The best way to do that is to help someone else. It occupies your mind, freeing it from whatever detrimental swamp you’ve been stuck in. It lifts another person’s spirit and your own because you’ve made a positive impact on another life. That person is then more likely to improve someone else’s spirit by showing kindness in some way, and the cycle continues.

There are a lot of people out there dwelling on their fears, anger or pain. I know. I’m one of them. But if we all manage to put aside our own feelings—even for a few seconds—to smile and do something nice for someone else once, twice, three times a day, we can get this possessed tilt-a-whirl slowed. The more we do it, the easier it becomes. As our collective anxiety meter reduces it gets easier still. Eventually that tilt-a-whirl gets reversed and running in the right direction again.

To those in a place of positivity: if there was ever a time to give of yourself, it’s now.
To those who need help: give it first and it will come back to you. Start small and let it escalate.

Whatever your spiritual or religious beliefs, this is something we can all agree on: you teach what you know, but you reproduce what you are. So let’s all take a look at where our hearts are at and decide if thats what you want to be reproducing. It’s not easy to choose your emotions, but it is possible. My mantra? Fake It Till You Make It.

Works better than you may think.
