Ampeg’s brand is black and white. Ampeg is also (up until now) a company that only made bass amps. For the launch of the GVT, Ampeg wanted to step outside the traditional brand identity and create something solely for this product line. The personification was seen as “the working man,” a calloused-hand, whiskey-drinkin’, smokey blues-club-playin’ dude who needed a workhorse amp with vintage tone.
I directed the shoot at Earl Harper Photography and handled all photo retouching, layout and development of all campaign assets used after the ad for things such as banner ads, trade show displays, in-store merchandising and product swag.
